L'art abstrait, notamment les approches géométriques, est un processus constructiviste dans lequel le dialogue et la communauté des artistes sont au cœur du soutien conceptuel des œuvres individuelles. Cette approche dialectique de l'art prend une forme très littérale au sein des mouvements d'art abstrait, en particulier ceux qui se penchent sur la géométrie et la couleur comme sujets principaux. Bien que réalisé par des individus, l'art abstrait est une pratique communautaire qui repose sur une compréhension profonde du dialogue au sein des mouvements artistiques et constitue une réponse moderne aux approches plus traditionnelles. Chaque œuvre est créée en conversation avec une exploration plus large de la perception et de l'espace. Quatre artistes montréalais établis se réunissent en février 2025 dans une exposition intitulée « Being Constructiv » : Barry Aikens, Demetrios Papakostas, Brigitte Radecki et John Drew Monro. Chacun d'entre eux imprègne son travail de réalités conceptuelles profondes par la distillation de formes et de couleurs. Ces œuvres forment clairement un récit visuel distinct, renforcé par la communauté dans laquelle ces artistes travaillent à Montréal. Le processus constructiviste et collaboratif de l'art abstrait est bien vivant et renforce le caractère essentiel de la communauté.
Abstract art, notably geometric approaches amongst others, is a constructivist process in which the dialogue and community of artists is central to conceptual backing of individual works. This dialectical approach to art takes a very literal form within abstract art movements, especially those which delve into geometry and colour as their primary subjects. Although carried out by individuals, abstract art is a communal practice which is based in a deep understanding of the dialogue within artistic movements and as a modern response to more traditional approaches. Every work is created in conversation with a broader exploration of perception and space. Four established Montreal artists are coming together in February 2025 in a show entitled “Being Constructiv”; Barry Aikens, Demetrios Papakostas, Brigitte Radecki, and John Drew Monro. Each is imbuing their work with deep conceptual realities through the distillation into shape and colour. These works clearly form a distinct visual narrative only strengthened by the actual community in which these artists work in Montreal. The constructivist and collaborative process of abstract art is alive and well, reinforcing the essentiality of community.
