Exhibition by Rock Lamothe Art Contemporain. This title RÉSEAU is used here in its concrete sense “a set of intertwined lines” and in the figurative sense “a set of relations”.
These two professional artists Gaétane Godbout and Luc Boyer are brought together in this exhibition mainly through their exploration of plastic language. Fascinated by the accumulation and repetition of lines and shapes, they build universes rich in interpretation and from which emerges a strong impression of humanity.
Gaétane Godbout builds places from scratch using the evocative power of plastic language. His works consist of an addition of gestures and abstract signs, each of which is made with great sensitivity. It gives off intriguing and poetic atmospheres, which question our own memory and knowledge of certain places.
Luc Boyer explores the vulnerability and precariousness of the body are themes that he transposes into sculpture. In a gathering of forms, a place of rupture or cut is often detected: the fluidity of matter is broken by an obstacle or a solid formation. These sculptures, created from paper, rock and metal wires, play finely with the relationship between mass and lines in space.
